Furthermore, laughing increases the immune system; enhances the function of blood vessels by promoting the flow of blood to the organs; cleanses the lungs, conveying more oxygen to the body, especially in the digestive organs, which improves digestion and peristalsis. Laughter strongly stimulates the activity of the vagus nerve, the largest of the parasympathetic nervous system, which comes into action when we relax. As if that weren't enough, laughing speeds up our metabolism and allows us to consume calories.
