SI PARLA DI UN ASSASSINO ON THE ROAD

Il brano nacque quasi casualmente, mentre in studio di registrazione Morrison cominciò ad improvvisare sul testo di una vecchia canzone,  Ghost Riders in the Sky , che involontariamente diventò  Riders on the Storm. 

Il testo parla di una strana figura di autostoppista assassino che era già stato protagonista di alcune poesie di Morrison. Il personaggio era realmente esistito negli anni '50 ed era stato un serial killer itinerante, che viaggiava in autostop e si dimostrava a dir poco riconoscente nei confronti di chi lo caricava. Nel brano sono presenti effetti sonori realizzati in studio in fase di montaggio e registrazione del brano, vedi tuoni iniziali. Bellissimi gli intermezzi strumentali delle tastiere realizzati da Ray Manzarek che rendono il brano tipicamente appartenente alla produzione dei The Doors.

La tastiera utilizzata e che fa tanto anni 70' e psichedelia è  il  Vox Continental è un combo-organ più semplice da trasportare rispetto al famoso organo Hammond.
