Local wisdom is amazing. Other than the astonishing architecture of the great and wonderful Phanom Rung, a mysterious calculation on the date and time for the sunlight, shining through the 15 doorways in different seasons four times a year, is incredible.

Phanom Rung Historical Park or Prasat Phanom Rung is on an extinct volcano. This Hinduism, Sivaism religious place was reconstructed since 15-18 Buddhist era. It was built from pink sandstone and located on the peak of Phanom Rung. In short, Rachenvarman II played an important role in constructing the temple on Phanom Rung Mountain in order to offer Siva during 15-16 Buddhist era. Later, Jayavarman VI donated the land and sent some servants to Phanom Rung. In 17 Buddhist era, Narentrathit, a royalty of Mahitarapura who ruled over the land (which belong to the ancestor of Suriyavoraman II, who built Angkor Wat), established this Prasat and practiced yogi here.
