IBM 705

After some solid research, the only difference I can find with the IBM 705 is that it was similar to the IBM 702 and it could run many 702 programs without modification, but they weren’t completely compatible.

This was another gigantic calculator, but proved to be making progress. The CEO of IBM at the time, Thomas Watson, Jr., has been famously misquoted for saying, “I think there is a world market for maybe five computers.” As ironic as this quote would be, it’s unfortunately completely false reporting.

UNIVAC (1951)

UNIVAC, or Universal Automatic Computer, was the follow-up to the ENIAC, invented by the same two guys – J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly. CBS used the UNIVAC to predict the 1952 presidential election result using a 1% sample of the voting population.
