* New copyright rules approved by the European Parliament could change internet history. * Despite Google's threats to withdraw from Europe, that is, leaving 28 European Union (EU) countries without access to its services, including Germany, Spain and France, the European Parliament pushed through the controversial regulation on Copyright that will force large technology platforms to pay the media for the content they link. It means, in practice, that Google will not be able to yield anything for which you do not have a license in your search results or in your Google News application. But there is something else. The rule requires websites where users share content, such as Twitter, Facebook or YouTube, to ensure that no one will make publications subject to copyright. Until now, these platforms were obliged to remove them later if there were claims, but now they must prevent their dissemination proactively.
