Sai it with flowers

In times when we have all been requested to spend more time indoor than outdoor, the wish to explore Nature has skyrocketed and so has the eagerness to learn about it..

That is why this week we decided to take you to the amazing world of flowers, silent living creatures that can actually say a lot.

The common saying ‘say it with flowers’ speaks for itself: flowers allow us to communicate our thoughts. Nearly every sentiment imaginable can be expressed with flowers. Flowers have their own meaning and that symbolic meaning, as well as their color, can help us to convey the right message.

Yes, a flower can say it all and although meanings may vary from one Continent to another, it is interesting to find out what are the symbols generally associated to flowers.

Let’s start with the colors:

White flowers

As one might expect, white flowers symbolize purity, cleanliness, freshness, immaculacy, clarity and simplicity. White also indicates innocence, perfection, natural love and piety.

Yellow flowers

Orange flowers

Orange flowers symbolize cheerfulness, warmth, conviviality, optimism, fun, strength, vitality and energy. Suitable for: birthdays and congratulations

Red flowers

Red flowers are often associated with passion, seduction, romance and tenderness. As such, red flowers are great gifts for lovers

Pink flowers

Pink flowers symbolize innocence, just like white ones, but also romance and tenderness. This is the perfect color to say ‘I like you’ or ‘You are dear to me’. Suitable for: Mother’s Day and the birth of a daughter

Purple flowers

Purple flowers are primarily used for mourning purposes, but also symbolize dignity and gravity. Suitable for: condolence bouquets

Blue flowers

Blue symbolizes divinity and eternity, but also (once again) innocence. Suitable for: the birth of a son.

Green flowers

Green flowers symbolize young, new life and fertility. They also indicate peace, prosperity and hope. Suitable for: the birth of a child

If you are a flowers fan and you want to discover more on the meaning of flowers, do not miss our next post on this subject.
