Take good care of yourself. Always
Nobody can take so good care of yourself than…yourself!
Taking good care of ourselves is paramount to the success of our recovery process. In the aftermaths of stressing times, people find that their physical, spiritual, and
emotional health are all connected, and that supporting one supports the others.
Taking care of all aspects of the self will increase the likelihood that we stay well
and that we make the others around us stay well too.
To help support yourself here some tips for self-care:
Live
healthy, eat healthy foods, get enough sleep, exercise regularly, and avoid
drugs and alcohol. Manage stress and go for regular medical check-ups.
Practice
good hygiene. Good hygiene is important for social, medical, and psychological
reasons in that it not only reduces the risk of illness, but it also improves
the way others view you and how you view yourself.
See friends
to build your sense of belonging. Consider also making new friends.
Try to do
something you enjoy every day. That might mean dancing, watching a TV show, listening
to your favorite music, writing, drawing, reading or learning something new
Find ways
to relax, like meditation and yoga, sing songs, take a bath or look at the sunset
And remember…. nobody can take so good care of yourself than…yourself!
