“Your second life begins when you realise you only have one” is the story of Camille, a woman in her best years... She is successful, but still feels that something is wrong in her life. One day, her car stops on the road... She looks for help and meets a kind-looking “routinologist“... Truly inspiring and enjoyable!

Few books have been for me truly inspiring and enjoyable at the same time, “Your second life begins when you realise you only have one”, is one of them. I prefer literature on psychology and self-development and I often ask my friends and acquaintances for reading recommendation... so why not recommend something myself, this time around? This book is about Camille, a woman in her best years, she is successful, but still feels that something is wrong. She quarrels at home with her husband, that comes home and sits in front of the computer to communicate with his virtual friends. He is not interested in how her day was and he is not helping with any houseworks. Camille“s child does not learn enough; her colleagues and their sarcastic remarks disturb her; she is in hurry all the time, though she works part time and her husband still has the impression that she is not doing much. One day, Camille’s car stops on the road and she gets all worried. She feels the weight of the world on her shoulders. She has no other choice than walking through the horrible weather to look for a house and ask for help. Finally she reaches a gorgeous mansion and there, the person who opens the door, is a nice, kind-looking man who radiates peace and dignity. During the conversation, he listens to the woman“s concerns and then mentions that his profession is that of a routinologist. Camille has never heard of this kind of job. And it seemed a bit strange to me too, rather I knew about psychologists, psychiatrists, and other therapists. When the woman finally leaves, the man gives her a business card and says she can call and come for a consultation, if she wants to. After suffering a little bit more from all the problems in her life, she decides to meet him.  The man then introduces her to a scheme that consists of different stages, starting with putting her own house in order, with the aim of getting rid of everything unnecessary at home and in her whole life. Camille immediately wonders how long this program lasts and how much it costs. She becomes aware that the program takes as long as she needs to get her life in order, while if at some point it doesn“t seem to work, it can be stopped and nothing has to be paid. The payment can be made at the end of the program and at her own discretion! It seems to her like an interesting therapy. Since the therapist lives in a large villa, drives fancy cars, works in a beautiful office, it seems obvious to Camille that he has a lot of satisfied clients who pay well. And therefore, she decides to start. The narration of the routinologist’s techniques was, for me, really engaging and picturesque. Let me give you a glimpse of Camille’s therapy. She first has to write down everything she wants to get rid of on sheets of paper. At the next meeting with the routinologist, he makes Camille to a ride with him a hot air balloon. He teaches the woman how to fold proper paper planes out of these sheets and send them away. They let her low self-esteem, her 4 kilos of overweight and other different problems, fly away as paper planes. This gesture seems to be very important here - what a strange man! Now, however, the harder part is to get rid of these elements in real life. But how to get rid of extra weight when the biscuits are waiting around the corner? One of the last stages of therapy is dealing with her mental health, getting to know a meditation guru, which is, surprise-surprise, a Cat - dignified, confident, doing exactly what and when he wants. If he wants to cuddle, he comes and asks for it; if someone else wants to do it, he goes away. He has no hurry; he does not care about what anybody thinks of him or if people think anything at all. If necessary, he stands up for himself and puts a stinky gift on the pillow belonging to the person who offended him. The day in which Camille has passed through all the stages of the therapy arrives, and the time to pay arrives, as well. Now the story turns out really surprising! But I don’t want to talk about it more, because maybe... you have already decided to follow my recommendation and discover personally the whole adventure of Camille. Enjoy the reading!
