Eckhart Tolle “The Power of Now“
The book was published in 2010 and talks about living in the moment and the art of achieving inner peace.
In the book, the writer tells about his self-discovery of how he came to live and enjoy life in the current moment. He explains the inborn patterns of thought, that people have lived with for thousands of years. The book is for those, who want to develop themselves and need radical inner change, but also for everyone else, because this book can become the seed for the germination of the enlightenment in every human being. The book is born from questions, that people have asked in seminars, meditation groups and individual receptions. In the book, the writer teaches us to notice and recognize the lies within ourselves. Also, observe and mute endless noises in our heads and focus on current activities and notice everything around us, to observe, not to analyze.By reading, we get a little idea of how to be free from the dimensions of time and how to see things as they really are, not through the veil of our ego.Pain, fear, anxiety and all negative emotions are related to time and our minds, and in his book the writer explains the meaning of it. We often consider the past and future better than the present and focus on them instead of enjoying the present. What we call our life, is actually a life situation - a psychological time - the past and the present. If things were not going as we hoped in the past, we will not be able to accept it and don`t want to accept the current moment. Hope gives strength, but it holds the negation of the present and directs our attention to the future. But our focus should be on the present and enjoying it, not thinking about the past and daydreaming about the future. So what is the difference between our present life and some unfortunate life situation? Our lives are the present moment, but life situations are thoughts in our head. When the head is full of problems, there is no room for new things and solutions. As we awaken from the sleep of time and the insanity of the mind, that is slowly sucking us out of all life energy, we come to the present moment and enjoy its beauty and peace. All problems are illusions, created by thoughts, that need time to survive. Living in the present, you may encounter situations, that require resolution or reconciliation and acceptance, but why think too much about them and make them a problem? Problems are caused by the mind and have grown with time.I read this book some years ago and even couple of times, but it's always good to have a second look and remind myself of the magic of living in the moment. The book is relatively thin, but concise and deeply philosophical, requires focus and thought.
