Smuggling Tea It used to be that men were the only ones allowed to consume tea in England. It was smuggled in to the country and sold in coffee houses. Seems crazy to us now, but that’s how it was.

The whole concept of tea must have come from somewhere, right? And so, legend has it that it was this dude. Just like paper and gunpowder, it would seem that we have the Chinese to thank for tea, when the 2nd emperor, Shen-Ning, supposedly made the discovery whn tea leaves blew in to his boiling water back in 2727BC. Seems like quite a specific year for so long ago, I know. But it’s a significant discovery too!
