Fino alla sua morte, all'età di 88 anni, il 13 ottobre 2016, questa festa era stata a lungo celebrata come il compleanno del re, oltre a essere contrassegnata come la festa del papà.
Anche ora il 5 dicembre rimane la festa del papà e funge anche da ricordo del re Bhumibol e del suo compleanno.
On 5 December has long been one of the most prominent. Until his death aged 88 on 13 October 2016, this holiday had long been celebrated as the King’s Birthday, as well as being marked as
Father’s Day.
Even now December 5 remains as Father’s Day and also acts as a remembrance of King Bhumibol and his birthday.

Alcuni anni fa, il Nostro amatissimo Re si era ammalato e tutta la popolazione si era preoccupata. Poichè il Re era nato di lunedì, tutti, ma dico tutti i thailandesi hanno iniziato a vestirsi di giallo, in segno di devozione e solidarietà verso il Re.
A few years ago, our beloved King became ill and the whole population was worried. Since the King was born on Monday, everyone, but I say all the Thais started to wear yellow, as a sign of devotion and solidarity towards the King.
