Entriamo a Bratislava, cerchiamo subito di parcheggiare in pieno centro per farci notare. Fortunati troviamo una posizione favorevole tra il centro storico e quello commerciale.
We enter Bratislava, we immediately try to park in the center to show us. Lucky we find a favorable position between the historical center and the commercial one.

Arriva l’ora di pranzo e perfetta arriva anche la pioggia. Pensavamo di mangiare un piatto tipico slovacco i famosi “bryndzové halušky” in qualche birreria del centro storico. Invece la pioggia a catinelle (anzi direi a secchiate!) ci costringe al riparo sotto un porticato di una Kulturny Dum (biblioteca e cinema).
The time for lunch arrives and the rain arrives perfectly. We thought of eating a typical Slovak dish the famous “bryndzové halušky” in some brewery in the historic center. On the other hand, the heavy rain (I would say buckets!) Forces us to shelter under an arcade of a Kulturny Dum (library and cinema).
Vediamo l’entrata di una Kavarna (caffetteria), confortati da un’accogliente entrata ci ritroviamo in uno dei tipici locali che erano frequentati da intellettuali, poeti e liberi pensatori nel periodo del regime comunista e altrettanto di moda poi nel dopo nomenklatura.
Sicuramente un’atmosfera retrò molto interessante, ma abbiamo gustato cose diverse direi carni e patate con un tocco internazionale. Però vi propongo comunque la ricetta degli “halušky” in fondo pagina.
We see the entrance of a Kavarna (coffee shop), comforted by a welcoming entrance, we find ourselves in one of the typical places that were frequented by intellectuals, poets and free thinkers in the period of the communist regime and just as fashionable then in the post-nomenklatura.
Certainly a very interesting retro atmosphere, but we have tasted different things, I would say meat and potatoes with an international touch. However, I still suggest the recipe for "halušky" at the bottom of the page.
Bryndzové halušky
Gli gnocchi slovacchi “bryndzové halušky” sono un piatto nazionale slovacco. Sono preparati con patate, farina, sale, formaggio di pecora "bryndza" e pancetta.
Ingredienti:
750 g di patate
400 g di Bryndza (il formaggio slovacco più tipico, un formaggio di pecora che conferisce al piatto un odore e un gusto molto specifici)
100 g di pancetta affumicata
1 uovo, 300 g di farina, sale.
Preparazione:
Sbucciare e tagliare le patate. Le tagliamo con la grattugia fine (in modo che ciò che rimane sia quasi come purè di patate crudo). Aggiungi l'uovo, la farina e il sale. Nel frattempo, facciamo bollire una pentola d'acqua (2 litri). Una volta che la massa è completa, prendiamo due cucchiaini da tè formiamo dei gnocchetti e li buttiamo giù nell'acqua (in Slovacchia hanno un colino con grandi fori specifici per questo tipo di gnocchi). Lasciamo bollire qualche minuto fino a quando non galleggiano in superficie.
Tagliare la pancetta a strisce sottili e friggerla con un po 'di olio.
Mescolare gli "halusky" con pancetta fritta e formaggio "Bryndza" e servire.
Bryndzové halušky or sheep cheese dumplings are a Slovak national dish.
Ingredients:
750g potatoes
400g Bryndza (the most typical Slovak cheese, a sheep cheese that gives the dish a very specific smell and taste)
100 g smoked bacon
1 egg, 300 g flour, salt.
Preparation:
Peel and cut the potatoes. We cut them with the fine grater (so that what remains is almost like raw mashed potatoes). Add the egg, flour and salt. In the meantime, we put a pot of water (2 liters) to a boil. Once the mass is complete we take two small teaspoons and let down small dumplings in the water (in Slovakia they have a colander with large holes specific for this type of pasta). We let it boil a few minutes until all the dumplings are “floating” on top of the water.
Cut the bacon into thin strips and fry it with a little bit of oil.
Mix the dumplings “halusky” with fried bacon and “Bryndza” cheese and serve.

Parcheggio misto su asfalto ed erba sulla riva del Danubio, molto comodo perché presso il ponte in ferro che lo collega con il centro città.
