Maca root is rich in carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, fiber, and minerals, and is rich in essential fatty acids, B vitamins, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, and potassium. In addition, maca has been found to improve athletic performance, increase vitality, and very good against chronic fatigue. Maca root is also a good source of sexual energy. Famous Inca warriors ate maca root, for example, before going to battle or on a long journey, because it increased their endurance and gave them a lot of energy. Rather, it has been noticed, that maca is not a common plant, because it has the ability to prevent hormonal changes that cause aging. Maca is equally effective in balancing the female hormonal system as well as regulating male prostate function.

The recommended daily amount is up to 3 teaspoons of maca powder. Initially it is recommended to start with half the amount of a teaspoon, some sources even recommend only 1/4 teaspoon at a time and several times a day with meals. There is a lot of additional information about the root of maca on the internet. I took the information from the Looduspere store page, where I also buy most of my supplements, salad oils, creams, shampoos and home cleaners; and also from the Eevarell page.
I heard about maca powder from my friend, who has been using it for several months and has found relief to her hormonal headaches. When I told her about my week-long headaches that didn't even relieve with painkillers, she suggested me to try maca, which I do now.
