One book about balance between mind and body

The book was published in english in 2009 “Clean - The Revolutionary Program to Restore the Body's Natural Ability to Heal Itself“, translated into estonian in 2013.

The book is quite voluminous and full of valuable information.It brings us a wealth of knowledge about body`s functioning, health, nutrition and natural healing.The author was born in Uruguay in 1964 in a jewish family. From an early age, he knew, he wanted to be a doctor and help people to relieve their ailments, help them to live healthier and longer. So he went to medical school and later decided to become a cardiologist. After graduation, he got an interns place at New York University Hospital in Manhattan, where he studied internal diseases for another 3 years. Formerly used to a quiet town, where the food was bought at a local farmer's shop and the whole family ate dinner together, he now had to adjust to the fast-paced life of Manhattan eating fast food most of the time. He started gaining weight and sneezing at the changing of seasons because of allergies, was tired, but could not sleep. As for the deterioration of health, he thought, that once he finished studies, his health would be restored. After 3 years, he continued to gain experience in cardiology at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, leading a cardiology intensive care unit, and as his responsibilities increased, the extra pounds continued to accumulate, the allergy became very severe, and he got also serious digestion trouble. The specialist's diagnosis was irritated bowel syndrome, where nothing more could be done than controlling the symptoms with various medications. No one had ever asked him, what he was eating, nor had he been studying nutrition. Soon chest pains, depression and distressing compulsive thoughts were added. Eventually, the problems got so crazy, that he had to seek help from a psychiatrist, who said his chemical balance was disturbed, his brain did not produce enough serotonin, and wrote antidepressants to him. When he left the doctor, he wondered how his cells could forget their chemistry, how they became unbalanced.He also went to another psychiatrist to ask for additional opinion, who explained a little more about the serotonin deficiency in the brain, but the reasons, why such things happen, were nowhere to be found. Therefore, he began to study books of his own, beginning with psychiatry and psychology, continuing with self-help and new age, and ending with oriental philosophy and practicing yoga and meditation, because meditation is the silence of thoughts.Now he had to find his meditation teacher, which was no easy task, but a friend recommended him a good specialist and so he made his way to a meditation school, led by an Indian meditation master. The author continued reading books and acquiring meditation techniques, reading through all the books written by his teacher and by its teacher. In this way, his life course changed forever and in his book he concisely conveys his experience and knowledge of everything, that he has acquired, which includes health plan, cleansing, nutrition, body climate, the effects of genes and much more.I listened to it as audio-version because this way I can run at the same time.
