The 2019 edition of the Film and Book Festival at Tiber Island ended last August 29th. To mark the occasion, the presentation of the book by Isabel Russinova took place - La Regina delle Rose - edited by Armando Curcio Editore.

Giovanni Fabiano and Maria Castaldo art directors were present. Moderator of the event Gianni Todini, vice director of Askanews.

The author describes the story of Princess Giovanna (daughter of King Vittorio Emanuele III of Italy) and Boris III Tsar of Bulgaria.

A gripping and moving narrative in which memories, politics, and chapters of the Second World War are intertwined together. The story is about a king and a queen who loved the Bulgarian people with all their soul and heart — love for one's people that also leads to brave decision-making.

Such as the case of Bulgarian Jews' rescue from deportation. Boris and Giovanna also contributed to the development of the country by building churches, hospitals, and schools. But above all, a strong testimony on the strength of faith and prayer is made to emerge in them. Prayer that helps to face the hardest, darkest moments and generates the courage to make the most critical decisions.
