⚠️ Mind the gap between the train...

...and the platform!

If you have ever taken the London underground, these words are familiar to you:
⚠️ Mind the gap between the train and the platform!

Every time I hear this warning, I twist it:

⚠️ Mind the gap between the role you play and the person you are
⚠️ Mind the gap between a ‘yes’ said just to fit in and a ‘no’ said from a place of choice
⚠️ Mind the gap between reality and possibility!

I am a loyal fan of gaps. A gap may make us think of a gorge, a river, a wall, in a nutshell of something that creates separation. But what if the gap was a bridge that connects and reveals? Like the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Ponte Vecchio in Florence, the Si-o-Se-Pol Bridge in Isfahan?

I still remember the first time I crossed Pont des Arts in Paris, and I saw the Palais du Louvre. Wow! It was at the sunset and out of the blue…all that light and beauty! This makes me smile now, because I am scared of deep water, and I almost failed not to cross it: its ‘woody allure’ did not seem very trustworthy to me, and I could not recollect anything similar in Baywatch!

Since, I have crossed many bridges. Some solid and stable, some gracious and elegant, some frail and tottering. At times I felt confident and at ease, but most of the time I was a bit scared and concerned about the depth of the water below. However, on the other side, I always found something that set me free from my fear and made me a better me.

Your gap may be a bridge too! During the crossing, you may: encounter cheeky dogs that ignore the recall, be hit by a rickshaw, drop your keys (yes, in the water!), think that it is going to rain and it is better to go back, etc. But if you choose to cross your bridge no matter what, then you will be surrounded by light, beauty and freedom.

What does your gap look like?
Can you get a glimpse of what is waiting for you on the other side?
