‘It is not what you have,
it is what you do with it.’

I heard this sentence for the first time almost 10 years ago, in Paris. I was at the airport, waiting for one of my mentors landing directly from New Mexico. Due to the nature of her trip, I was expecting some big luggage. And when she showed up, I actually saw a big suitcase and a little bag.
Keen to help, I bravely lifted the big suitcase and, OMG, it was so heavy!!! I asked her what was inside, and, with a big smile, she replied: ‘Books and wisdom, of course!’. Then, she pointed to the little bag and added: ‘My clothes are there. I have a couple of combos and I play with them. After all, it is not what you have, it is what you do with it!’.
It was at this point that a question came into my mind, and it has not left yet: ‘What do you do with your space, your time, your talents, whatever they are?’. Too many times I heard people (myself included) saying: ‘I do not have enough space; I do not have enough time; I do not have enough potential!’.
Really? Forget about what you do not have (or you think you do not have) and focus on what you have. What could you do more of, less of, or just differently today, to acknowledge what you have and make the best of it?
I look forward to reading your comments!
