Recovery and Learning in the Aftermath of the Pandemic

Every crises is different but it’s never just loss or gain. Challenges and opportunities always coexist in difficult times.

Among all the experts who study emergencies and disasters, there are some who frame
crises not just in terms of what is lost but also of what can be gained. They spot
glimmers of opportunity.
Therefore, emergencies aren’t just moments when bad things get worse, or when people
inevitably become more scared, suspicious and self-centered. They can offer an
occasion to open up human reserves of improvisation, solidarity and resolve, purpose
and joy, even while experiencing loss and pain.
This does not mean celebrating disasters but paying attention to the possibilities they
might bring with them. After a crises human beings reset themselves to something
altruistic, communitarian,
resourceful and imaginative. We revert to something we already know how to do.
Often those who live through terrible times become able to help others and some
may even do something that makes the world a better place.
Even terrible things can teach some good things like understanding, caring, courage
and we can learn how to overcome difficult times.

Anyway, before we can help others, it is essential that we manage to help ourselves.
So, how can we help ourselves after the pandemic in order to be useful to family, kins
and the community?

We will find out together, if you keep following me. Wiil you?
