V.A. - KENT'S MAGIC TOUCH 1997

Questo Cd uscito nel 1997 per la Kent records, storica etichetta specializzata in ristampe di musica soul e northern soul è tra quelli che capitano spesso dalle parti del mio impianto stereo. La selezione dei brani è a dir poco fantastica, si apre con "The Magic Touch" che dà il titolo al disco , sicuramente uno di quei brani che hanno fatto la storia del northern soul, registrato ed eseguito nel 1966 da Melba Moore molto famosa anche negli anni a seguire in piena era disco music. Si prosegue con altre gemme di artisti "minori" ma molto amati da chi apprezza queste sonorità come Eddie Carlton, Marie Knight, The Toys, Debra Anderson, Chris Bartley, Dean Parrish e molti altri , ma all'interno dei disco troviamo anche i Platters (sì proprio quelli di "Only You") e Eartha Kitt artisti molto famosi e che non hanno bisogno di presentazioni. Da segnalare in coda all'album la versione italiana di un classico del soul come "Long After Tonight Is All Over" di Jimmy Radcliffe.
